How to Create a Timeless Headshot
Truthfully, no headshot is timeless because we age, unfortunately. And our hair, wardrobe, and other features change. However, there are a few things that we can do to ensure that our headshots are classic and relevant for at least a few years.
- Consider wardrobe. Don’t wear something that’s super trendy if you’d like for your headshot to be around for a little while. Stick to classic looks (black jacket, pearls, etc.) and you can never go wrong.
- Find a professional headshot photographer. Your friend down the street with the nice camera can back you up against a wall and take a photo but that’s not going to look professional or last very long. Similarly, not all professional photographers specialize in headshots. There are certain classic lighting ratios, poses, and expressions that headshot photographers can create.
- Don’t give in to the latest trends. Or better yet, let’s create the latest trend but also create the classic look so that you can lean on that one when the trendy image becomes obsolete.
