Family Photos and Pets

Our pets are part of our families so naturally many people choose to include pets in their family photo session.  I love the dynamic that this brings to the family photo.  All pets have their own personalities just like people.  Some are calm as they sit and smile for the camera.  Others run around like crazy and can only be still for a moment to pose before they’re off again.  Not unlike toddlers, pets are sometimes tough to handle.  However, the resulting family photos are so much richer for their presence.  A snapshot in time, these family portraits represent the whole family – big and small, human and furry.  Together as family.

A Photograph with Amie

Amie has a service dog named Shelby-Mak.  She wanted photos with her two loves – the dog and the water.  Both serve as calming tools for Amie and are a very important part of her life.  Shelby-Mak is one of those very calm dogs who hardly ever barks, doesn’t run away, and minds her manners.  To say the least, that made my job that much easier.  She is a sweet companion for my friend.  We had a fun photo session near the water and Shelby-Mak loved all the sights and smells!
