Hire an Event Photographer

When planning for an event, it’s a great idea to budget for an event photographer. First, you will spend lots of time planning the event and making sure all of the tiniest details are taken care of. Then, you will spend money on the event venue, the food and drinks, and the entertainment. If you hire an event photographer, you and your guests will be able to relive the memories over and over again. Those memories are priceless! Search for a local event photographer in your area. Discuss with your photographer the details of the event and what you want to capture. Also provide your photographer with a timeline of events so that he or she can be prepared with the right equipment at the right time. Finally, after the event, enjoy the memories, the laughter, the connections that will forever mark this special event!

Caney Creek Prom

I was asked to photograph the Caney Creek prom a couple of weeks ago. It was so much fun! One of the teachers helped the students plan all of the details for prom night. She contacted me about the event and we discussed the details. We wanted to capture posed couple photos in front of a beautiful background that the students and florist helped to create. Then we would capture candid photos of the students enjoying prom as well. It was a team effort through Tara Flannery Photography and I love the resulting images!

I recently showed up to a headshot session at an office building with all my gear—ready to go—and security wouldn’t let me in.

Not because anything was wrong… but because there was a miscommunication, and I didn’t have a certificate of insurance on file with the building.

It’s one of those things you don’t think about when you’re first starting out—but it matters.

As you grow and start booking more corporate or on-location sessions, these small admin details become part of the job.

Clear communication with your client (or their admin team) ahead of time can save you a lot of stress on shoot day.

One of the biggest things I hear from senior guys is:
“I don’t know how to pose…”

And honestly—you don’t need to.

That’s my job.

Most of the poses you see here are simple, natural, and just small adjustments that make a big difference on camera. The goal isn’t to feel stiff or over-posed—it’s to look like yourself, just a little more confident.

I’ll guide you through everything during your session so it feels easy and relaxed the entire time.

Senior year is coming up quickly, and sessions start filling up once the school year gets going.

The goal isn’t to have more gear—it’s to have the right gear for how you actually shoot.
