Or worse, a group shot where you can clearly see someone else’s shoulder next to yours that’s been cut off. David contacted me about getting an updated headshot. We used a couple of different backgrounds to mix up the headshots. I typically recommend using a white background for LinkedIn and any clean, white websites. This will force the viewer’s focus on the person and not the image itself which is the goal for a headshot. A grey background is a good choice and works with other needs for headshots like marketing pieces. David had a hard time choosing only one headshot image – that’s a good problem to have! So, he chose three and he will be able to swap them out and use them for different purposes. He can use the white background image on LinkedIn and websites and the grey background image for articles, marketing, and business cards.
