Headshot Tips: Wardrobe
Choosing what to wear for your headshot is a crucial piece of the headshot puzzle. Start with what you would normally wear to work and then take it to the next level. Literally. Wear what your boss wears (use your judgement here) or the owner of the company.
For women, decide if a jacket suits your look, style, and role. Jackets come in many colors, although black or dark blue are always favorites. But white/cream or other solid color would be another great option (maybe for a second image). Pair the jacket with a solid color blouse. Be sure any wardrobe fits properly and is not too loose-fitting. This is not the time for flowy shirts or blouses. Also, try to stay away from sleeveless blouses. The skin on the arms will draw attention from the face.
For men, make sure your shirt and jacket fit!! Try it on before your session to be sure. Fit is the single biggest problem with wardrobe for men. Also, in my opinion, we can lose the tie. A button-down shirt and jacket are professional yet modern and approachable.
