Matching Corporate Headshots | Houston Headshot Photographer

Matching Corporate Headshots

I get many requests from companies to match a new employee’s headshot to the current look of the company’s headshots.  Most of the time, this is no problem as I can replicate background and lighting and pose.

  1. Background: color and style is important.  Even if I don’t have the exact backdrop that you’ve used, I can drop in a virtual backdrop if you have a file or replicate a certain color in Photoshop.
  2. Pose: let me know if there are any specifics for posing.  For example, some companies have all headshots angled to one direction.  Many times, angle doesn’t matter.
  3. Wardrobe: let the employee know if you have specific requirements for clothing (jacket, tie, casual, etc.).
  4. Image Size and Orientation: portrait or landscape orientation should be considered.  There are benefits to each.  Also, let me know if there are certain size requirements for the website that will make it easier to fit in the space.

Headshot Examples

Here are a few recent headshot sessions where a new employee’s headshot needed to match the current company headshots.  Power Engineers had a spec sheet with background, posing, and size requirements.  After my contact sent me the background file, I added it in and Brandy has a new headshot to match the company!

When you’re just getting started, it’s easy to think you need all the gear before you can take on client work.

You don’t.

For in-office headshots, a solid setup really comes down to a few essentials:
✅ reliable lighting
✅ a strong lens
✅ a backdrop
✅ reflectors to help control light and keep skin tones consistent

That’s how I’m able to create clean, professional headshots—without being in a studio.

And for branding? That’s where I shift.

Instead of a backdrop, I’m using the client’s space—capturing environmental images that feel more natural, personal, and aligned with their business.

Same session, two different approaches—both intentional.

Because at the end of the day, it’s not about having more gear…
it’s about knowing how to use what you have.

Shooting outdoors doesn’t always mean “perfect lighting.” 👇🏻

One of the biggest challenges with natural light is inconsistency—
skin tones can shift depending on shade, surroundings, and even reflections (hello green grass 👀).

That’s why I use off-camera flash, even outside.

It helps create:
✅ consistent skin tones
✅ balanced lighting
✅ a cleaner, more polished final image

So instead of guessing what the light is doing…
I’m controlling it.
