What to wear for headshots | Houston Headshot Photographer

What to wear for headshots

The most difficult part of preparing for a headshot session is finding something to wear.  So, I’ll share a few tips that might help as you plan.  First, start with what you wear every day to work.  This will best represent who you are and what you do.  Think about the end goals for these headshots.  If they are going on a website that’s completely white – then a white background may be a good option with a bright colored top.  If you need a darker image for a more formal look, then a medium grey background and dark suit may be best.  I try to match the tone of the clothing with the background so that the images have cohesion.  Finally, try on the selected outfit to make sure that it fits.  For men especially, make sure that shirts and coats are not too big or too small.  Feel free to run the outfit by your photographer or bring multiple options to your session if they allow it.

Headshots for Abercrombie & Associates

I have photographed all of the partners and staff for Abercrombie & Associates so that everyone has a professional, uniform headshot.  These ladies rocked their headshot sessions with solid red and blue on the medium grey background.  I love the ruffles – very feminine yet the top is professional.  As you can see from the group photo, they used lots of color for this image.  Everyone looked great in their solid color tops for a festive summer group photo!
