Staff Headshots

For companies that provide services, staff headshots are an excellent idea!  Your staff are an integral part of your business…you know that.  They greet patients and customers, tend to their needs, and make them feel welcomed into your business.  Many times, the staff also provides services for your customers.  Staff headshots on your website provide an invaluable greeting and welcome to potential and existing customers like nothing else.  People do business with people and your staff are constantly interacting with your people.  If customers can see the individuals that make up your team before even walking through the door, that familiarity instills trust and confidence in you and your company.  Get those headshots out there for everyone to see and greet your patients and customers now!

Headshots for Dr. Guy Lewis

I have photographed a number of staff members for Dr. Guy Lewis over the last several years.  After a recent office remodel, we took some new staff headshots.  I love the new look for the office and the new look that it brings to the staff headshots.  This first headshot might be my favorite with the logo in the background and the dark textured wallpaper on the right.  From Dr. Lewis’ website, his patients can meet the staff that they will see once they get to the office.  They can call each staff member by name – a familiarity that helps everyone feel comfortable and at ease.  Dr. Lewis and his staff have done a great job of introducing current and future patients to the office and staff.

When you’re just getting started, it’s easy to think you need all the gear before you can take on client work.

You don’t.

For in-office headshots, a solid setup really comes down to a few essentials:
✅ reliable lighting
✅ a strong lens
✅ a backdrop
✅ reflectors to help control light and keep skin tones consistent

That’s how I’m able to create clean, professional headshots—without being in a studio.

And for branding? That’s where I shift.

Instead of a backdrop, I’m using the client’s space—capturing environmental images that feel more natural, personal, and aligned with their business.

Same session, two different approaches—both intentional.

Because at the end of the day, it’s not about having more gear…
it’s about knowing how to use what you have.

Shooting outdoors doesn’t always mean “perfect lighting.” 👇🏻

One of the biggest challenges with natural light is inconsistency—
skin tones can shift depending on shade, surroundings, and even reflections (hello green grass 👀).

That’s why I use off-camera flash, even outside.

It helps create:
✅ consistent skin tones
✅ balanced lighting
✅ a cleaner, more polished final image

So instead of guessing what the light is doing…
I’m controlling it.
