Professional Services Headshots

Professional services are occupations in the tertiary sector of the economy requiring special training in the arts or sciences. Some professional services require holding professional licenses such as architects, auditors, engineers, doctors and lawyers. A professional headshot is especially important for people providing professional services. Clients need to see you as the face of the business. They cannot easily evaluate your skill in that service. The client must meet you and get to know you through your website and marketing materials. The headshot is the first connection that you have with potential clients. Make sure that it’s the best first connection that it can be with a professional and current headshot!

A Headshot for Susan

Susan is a licensed family therapist. She is in a professional services industry and needed a headshot. We had a fantastic session! She brought several outfits and we tried different backgrounds and lighting options to find the best fit for Susan. Ultimately, she decided on this beautiful shot with her black top and the white background. The background will be a great option for her business cards and for her LinkedIn profile image. Since Susan is a therapist, we wanted to be sure that the headshot was friendly and approachable. Your industry and your role within that industry definitely plays a part in the mood and posing of the headshot. Not all jobs require the same headshot and I like to ensure that the headshot accurately reflects your personality, style, and role.

If you’re just starting a photography business… you need to watch this.

I recently showed up to a headshot session at an office building with all my gear—ready to go—and security wouldn’t let me in.

Not because anything was wrong… but because there was a miscommunication, and I didn’t have a certificate of insurance on file with the building.

It’s one of those things you don’t think about when you’re first starting out—but it matters.

As you grow and start booking more corporate or on-location sessions, these small admin details become part of the job.

Clear communication with your client (or their admin team) ahead of time can save you a lot of stress on shoot day.
