Tips for a Professional Corporate Headshot Session
It’s easy to be prepared for your professional corporate headshot session. But preparation is key. Here are a few tips to make the headshot session smooth and successful:
Before the Session
- Choose clothing that matches your style and brand.
- Try on the clothing that you plan to wear and make sure that it fits properly. A suit jacket or buttoned shirt that doesn’t fit (either too big or too small) will show in the image.
- Make sure that clothing is clean, wrinkle-free, and smudge-free. I will have a lint roller for any extra lint flying around.
- Get rest and hydrate the night before the session.
- If you wear glasses, consider them for the headshot. Do you want to wear them for the headshot? If so, I have some tricks that we can use to minimize glare.
During the Session
- Take a deep breath and relax. These will make the most genuine headshots. I will help by directing your pose.
- Tell me about any preferences you have for flattering angles or things that you want to minimize. This will help me in posing too.
- As we review images together, let me know if there are things you’d like to adjust to get the best headshot possible.
After the Session
- Depending on the type of session, you will either see a proof gallery and will choose your favorite images or we will have chosen our favorite image together during the session.
- Your favorite image(s) will be fully edited and retouched.
- Do let me know if there’s something that needs attention after retouching.

Newfield
Newfield has a new member of their board of directors. They called me for a headshot session. Since he’s just being introduced to the company, he had meetings throughout the office that day. However, I was set up and ready to go as soon as he walked in. Within minutes, his headshot was completed and he verified that there were several good shots in the bunch.
