CURE is a publication about cancer survivors. The typical publication honors the care-givers during cancer treatment and the massive impact that they make on their patients. It highlights nurses providing extraordinary care during one of scariest times in a person’s life. A simple glance, a double-check on a patient’s status, and a caring word go a long way towards helping a patient cope and giving hope for a quick recovery. So many people have been affected by cancer. The stories highlighted in this publication and a testiment to the good of human beings.
Portraits for Constance
The story surrounding Constance is a little different. Her story is all about her. She is a cancer survivor and was so moved by the volunteers at her hospital that she immediately began volunteering when her treatment was complete. Volunteers provided that warmth and care that she needed at the exact moment when she needed it. They knew that a simple word or gesture was all that it took to give someone hope. A volunteer shared her own experience with cancer as she sat with Constance. Her words brought comfort in a time of high stress and anxiety. It meant everything to her. Only months after the end of her treatment, Constance was volunteering. After meeting her and witnessing her energy and enthusiasm for life, I know she will provide others with the comfort and hope that they need! I’m so touched and honored to know these extraordinary humans. I walk with you as you walk with others.
