Office Environmental Headshots
Headshots are a very personal thing. Each one is as different as the subject sitting for the portrait. At Tara Flannery Photography, we believe that your headshot should represent you – who you are and and what you do. The pieces of a headshot that work for one person may not work for the next person. In an individual headshot session, we have the time and ability to explore the things that work for you. We will adjust background, lighting, posing, and expression to find the best of all of those pieces. The end product is a headshot that fits you.
A studio headshot with solid background is a great choice for a headshot. In fact, many times this setup is preferred with large numbers of people or with headshots that need to be repeated a number of times. However, sometimes an environmental shot is a nice alternative. If you can include the office as your background, the viewer gets much more information about you in a single image. It places you in the context of your office and gives the background story to your image. The viewer leaves the image knowing you and your story.
Headshots for Sable Permian Resources
Sara contacted me about an updated headshot for the CFO of Sable Permian Resources located in downtown Houston. I brought my grey background and lighting and got set up in his office before he arrived. We got the standard safe studio shot. Then I asked him if we could experiment a little bit using his office as the background. Since we were downtown, the scenery out the window with all of the neighboring buildings made an excellent background. He was game and so we took a few shots that resulted in his favorite image. I love the way that they turned out. These headshots not only show the person but also the background, context, and story for these individuals. I particularly like the maps spread on the desk behind him – something that you’d see regularly in his office.
