Headshots with Impact

Your headshot says a lot about you. It conveys your style and your personality. Some people are bright and bubbly. Others are more formal and quiet. Your profession and your personality should be accurately represented in your headshot. When planning for your headshot session, think about the message that you’d like to convey with your headshot. First, decide on a tone and style (dark and formal or bright and casual). Then, consider the colors in your brand. What clothing compliments these colors? Finally, consider how your headshot will make an impact on those viewing it. What is your message to your potential clients, customer, patients, or partners?

New headshots for Jessica

Jessica and I had our first headshot session together about a year ago. She had this really cute, funky asymmetrical haircut and I loved it! Her blue suit was the perfect compliment to my blue grey background in natural light. We got some fantastic headshots for her as a realtor. She contacted me again recently for some updated headshots because she is getting ready to launch her new website. Jessica wanted the new website to be bright and colorful and less formal. So we had another great headshot session with lots of color and fun. This first image in the purple dress now adorns the front page of her new website and it’s sheer perfection! As a realtor, there are many opportunities to use headshots for marketing materials (business cards, yard signs, banners, web pages, etc.). So Jessica now has a whole new set of images to use for marketing.

If you’re just getting into headshot photography, it’s easy to feel like you need everything to get started.

You don’t.

A solid light setup, a reliable camera, and a lens you can trust will take you a lot further than you think.

📸 For me, that looks like a Nikon Z7II mirrorless camera + a 70–200mm lens, paired with a simple lighting setup that keeps things consistent and professional.

It’s not about having the most gear — it’s about having the right setup and knowing how to use it.
