Headshot Tips: Posing
I often hear the line from Talladega Nights: Ballad of Ricky Bobby when, during an interview, Bobby says, “I’m not sure what to do with my hands.” And the interviewer tells him to just hold them down by his side. Imagine me as the interviewer during your headshot session! I’ll help you remember to hold your hands by your sides. Sometimes posing for headshots feels awkward but you’ll be amazed when you see the final images. Here are a few posing tips for your headshots. Don’t worry, though, I’ll walk you through every step and we will adjust to fit your body and personality and goals for the images.
- Start from the bottom: turn the feet a quarter turn all the way up through your shoulders
- Women: shift your weight to your back leg and bend the front leg slightly
- From the waist, bend toward the camera slightly
- Chin comes out and down and straight to the camera
- Eyes to the camera
