Chairman’s Ball for The Woodlands Area Chamber of Commerce

Chairman’s Ball

The Woodlands Area Chamber of Commerce had the annual Chairman’s Ball on August 18. I had a great time photographing the event. The theme, as you can tell, was Star Wars. All of the tables were elaborately decorated to the theme. Some of them went way beyond what I thought was possible for table decorations! Candy and gift bags and goodies smothered the tables and waited for guests to arrive. It was a fun evening of dinner and dancing!

Excitement could be sensed in The Woodlands Saturday night as hundreds of people in black tie attire and Star Wars costumes applauded the outgoing and incoming chairmen for The Woodlands Area Chamber of Commerce.

The attendees entered the 40th annual Chairman’s Ball at The Woodlands Waterway Mariott Hotel and Convention Center by walking through plants recreating an Endor-like jungle scene before sitting at tables with Chewbacca, Yoda, and more decorative toppers.

Some attendees dressed in R2-D2 and C-3PO droid tuxedos, others could be spotted as Jedis and even Queen Padmé Amidala while enjoying dinner and a show that included a live lightsaber battle and recognition for those who have served as chairman in the past and helped bring the chamber success.

Headshots and branding photos… aren`t they basically the same thing? 📸

Not quite! While both are meant to represent you professionally, they serve different purposes.

Professional headshots are typically more traditional and polished. Think head-and-shoulders portraits with a clean studio backdrop or a professional office setting. They`re perfect for LinkedIn profiles, company websites, business cards, and anywhere you need a professional first impression.

Branding photography, on the other hand, tells a bigger story!

We`re talking full-body portraits, candid moments, interactive shots, and photos of you doing what you do best. Branding sessions can absolutely include headshots, too, but often with more personality and environmental elements that reflect your business.

The biggest difference? A headshot shows people who you are. Branding photography helps show them what you do and what it`s like to work with you.

One of the sweetest parts of being a photographer? Getting to watch families grow right in front of my camera. 🤍

I’ve had the privilege of photographing this beautiful family several times over the years, and now their family has grown to include three sweet kiddos!

It’s so special to look back at previous sessions and see just how much has changed. New little faces, growing personalities, and so many memories made along the way.

And honestly, this is one of my favorite things about what I do.

I have families who come back year after year for updated portraits. I’ve photographed kids as they grow up, celebrated their senior year with them, and even welcomed some of those same familiar faces back for professional headshots as they begin their careers.

Getting to be a small part of all those different chapters in someone’s life is something I’ll never take for granted.

Because these aren’t just photos. They’re little pieces of your family’s story that you get to hold onto forever. 🤍

And to every family who continues to trust me with those memories, thank you. It truly means so much!
