Avery’s Senior Portraits | Houston Senior Photographer

I did a photo session with my friend Laurie and her extended family. Sister, brother, their kids, and Grandma. LOVE IT! After that session, Laurie’s sister-in-law contacted me about senior portraits for her daughter. Perfect! We scheduled hair and makeup with Roxana Phillips and then met at The Woodlands High School to start the session. Avery is a runner so we started on the track. I love the image with her shoes and the sun shining through the background. Then we did a couple of outfit changes and got some great, natural images of Avery!

Here’s what her Mom had to say about the images: “Tara- These are beyond beautiful! And they really look like Avery! Thank you so much!”

Yay! I love to hear that I captured the true essence of someone – that’s what I always want. I want you to be you and let it show through in your gorgeous photos!

If you’re just getting into headshot photography, it’s easy to feel like you need everything to get started.

You don’t.

A solid light setup, a reliable camera, and a lens you can trust will take you a lot further than you think.

📸 For me, that looks like a Nikon Z7II mirrorless camera + a 70–200mm lens, paired with a simple lighting setup that keeps things consistent and professional.

It’s not about having the most gear — it’s about having the right setup and knowing how to use it.
