How to Plan an Event | Houston Event Photographer

How to Plan an Event

I love to photograph events – everything from corporate events to baby showers, baptisms, and galas.  These are fun events for me because I get to walk around and mingle and capture the essence of this special occasion.  Planning an event can be an overwhelming possibility.  But with a few steps of planning, it’ll be fun!

  1. Set a date, time, and location.  These are the first critical decisions to be made and the earlier the better on these decisions.
  2. Create a guest list.  Even if it’s just a rough estimate, you’ll need a headcount for the next steps.
  3. Plan for food, decor, and invitations.  Whether you do all of this yourself or get help, you’ll just need to make a plan.
  4. Hire professionals.  Depending on the size of your event, you may want to hire professionals for many of the services.  I’m biased but a professional photographer is one of the best investments here.  After all of the hard work and at the end of the day, the photographs will be the memories to hold on to.
  5. Relax and ENJOY!  If you’ve hired those professionals in Step 4, you can relax and enjoy the event!  No need to run around trying to do everything yourself during the event.  Relax and know that it’s all being handled by people who do this professionally.  From the DJ to the florist to the photographer, we will handle it and do our jobs so that you can have fun and enjoy!

A Baby Shower for Kim

Kim’s friends and family planned a stunning baby shower for her over the past weekend.  Everything was meticulously planned and executed.  One of the hosts opened her home for the event.  Another host made all of the delicious food.  Another host hired me so that she would have beautiful photos to remember the day.  Kim’s mom made all of the flower arrangements and they were gorgeous!  It was a beautiful event and everyone enjoyed the party, including Kim and her mom and mother-in-law.  First babies are so much fun!
