Portrait Photography

A headshot session with Tara Flannery Photography can be anything that you want it to be. Headshots are no longer limited to the studio look with a portrait orientation and a chest and up view. Portrait photography involves creating the likeness of a person. With creativity and planning, we can create a custom branding and portrait photography session to create fantastic images of you. Depending on the type of headshot session that you choose, we can try different backgrounds, lighting scenarios, wardrobe, and posing to make the very best portraits. Before the session, we will discuss all of these options and make a plan for the session. I can’t wait to see what we can create for you!

Branding portraits for Jenn

Jenn is a sorority sister of mine. She contacted me about getting some branding portraits done for her real estate business. I was so thrilled that she asked me to do this! She brought her daughter along to the session for help, which I love because it’s always nice to have someone there at the session cheering you on. We started with a studio setup and got this amazing image of her in the chair. Then we moved to a natural light setup and she absolutely loved these for her closeup headshots. Finally, we ended at a nearby model home for a couple of outdoor images. She now has a portfolio of branding images for her business. Jenn can use them for banners, websites, social media, business cards, flyers, signs, and so much more. All my best Jenn in your business – I wish you much success!

If you’re just starting a photography business… you need to watch this.

I recently showed up to a headshot session at an office building with all my gear—ready to go—and security wouldn’t let me in.

Not because anything was wrong… but because there was a miscommunication, and I didn’t have a certificate of insurance on file with the building.

It’s one of those things you don’t think about when you’re first starting out—but it matters.

As you grow and start booking more corporate or on-location sessions, these small admin details become part of the job.

Clear communication with your client (or their admin team) ahead of time can save you a lot of stress on shoot day.
