Branding Session Preparation

When it comes to creating a standout brand, a well-planned branding session is vital. Proper branding session preparation can make a significant difference in the outcome of your photoshoot. This guide will walk you through seven essential tips to ensure your branding session is a success.

Branding Session Preparation

Define Your Brand’s Identity

The first step in your branding session preparation is defining your brand’s identity. This includes understanding your brand’s mission, values, and target audience. A clear brand identity will guide the direction of your photoshoot, ensuring that the images captured align with your brand’s message. During your free consultation, we will discuss your brand’s identity in detail and explore how to effectively convey it in your final photos. This personalized approach ensures that your branding photos authentically represent your unique brand.

Choose the Right Location

Location is a critical component of branding session preparation. The setting should reflect your brand’s personality. For instance, a tech company might choose a sleek, modern office, while a lifestyle brand might opt for an outdoor setting. I take the time to scout the perfect location and book it in advance to ensure everything is ready for our session. Visiting potential locations beforehand ensures they meet your needs and align perfectly with your brand’s identity.

Plan Your Outfits Carefully

Your attire plays a significant role in conveying your brand’s image. Plan outfits that are consistent with your brand’s color palette and style. Make sure they are clean, wrinkle-free, and comfortable. Don’t forget to accessorize appropriately to add a touch of personality to your photos. In some of my packages, a wardrobe consultant is included who will discuss with you colors and specific outfits that match your personality and brand identity. This ensures that your attire not only looks great but also aligns perfectly with your brand.

Corporate Branding

Prepare Your Props

Props can enhance your branding photos by providing context and visual interest. Think about items that represent your business, such as laptops for tech companies, tools for artisans, or products for retail businesses. Effective branding session preparation includes gathering these props in advance.

Get Plenty of Rest

While it may seem simple, getting enough rest before your branding session is crucial. Being well-rested will help you look fresh and feel more energetic during the shoot. This positivity will reflect in your photos, making them more engaging and attractive.

Communicate with Your Photographer

Effective communication with your photographer is essential for successful branding session preparation. Share your vision, discuss your goals, and listen to their professional advice. A good photographer will provide insights and suggestions to enhance your session, ensuring the final photos are of the highest quality.

You don’t need the most expensive gear to be a good photographer.

When I first started, I thought I needed everything—top-tier camera, expensive lighting, all of it.

The reality?

A solid camera and a good lens will take you a long way.

If you’re just starting out, keep it simple:
✨ A versatile zoom lens (24–70mm or 70–200mm)
✨ Gear you can rely on and learn inside and out

And when it comes to lighting—especially outdoors—don’t overinvest too early.

Wind happens. Gear gets knocked over. Things break.

Light is light.

Focus on learning how to use what you have before worrying about upgrading everything.

📥 I’ve put together resources for new photographers covering gear, lighting, posing, and more—click the link in my bio!
Most men think they don’t know how to pose for a headshot…

but it’s not about knowing poses.

It’s about a few simple adjustments that make you look confident and natural on camera.

A couple go-to options (like the classic “GQ” stance, arms crossed, or a relaxed lean) can completely change how you show up.

And the rest? That’s what I guide you through.

📥 If you’re also not sure what to wear, I’ve got you covered—grab my Men’s Style Guide for Headshots through the link in my bio.

📩 Ready for updated headshots? You can book through the link as well.
If you’re just getting started in photography… don’t worry about finding your niche right away.

When I first started, I photographed everything—weddings, babies, families, headshots, corporate… if someone needed photos, I was there.

And that’s how you figure it out.

You don’t find your niche by waiting—you find it by doing the work, learning what you like, and getting better with every session.

Every type of shoot teaches you something different.
Every client builds your experience.

Over time, you start to see what actually fits you—and that’s where your expertise comes from.

📥 If you’re in that phase right now, I’ve put together resources to help—covering lighting, gear, posing, and more.

Senior portraits are just one piece of what I do 👇🏻

I also work with:
✅ professionals who need updated headshots
✅ business owners building their brand
✅ families capturing this season of life
✅ and actors/models creating strong portfolio images

Different sessions—but the same goal:
helping people show up confidently and authentically on camera

📩 If you’re not sure what kind of session you need, let’s figure it out together—link in bio to learn more.
Senior sessions with moms and sons are always… an experience 😂

A little back-and-forth, a few eye rolls, and somehow we still end up with photos everyone loves.

Honestly, those in-between moments are usually the best part.

📩 DM me if you’ve been putting off senior photos—there’s still time.
