Prom for all
The Social Justice Ministry of Northwoods Unitarian Universalist Church sponsors this annual prom event for all LGBTQ high school juniors and seniors and straight allies. I was honored to be part of this special event in The Woodlands, TX. In a world with so much hatred and misunderstanding, I am filled with gratitude for the adults who spent hours planning and preparing this event for these young people so that they would have a safe, fun place to hold prom…when they sometimes don’t feel comfortable going to their own high school prom. On this night, they could be themselves. They could laugh with their friends and joke and dance. And they did! They put on their party dresses and danced. And I did too until I felt really old and then I went back to my camera 🙂 Dance, y’all, dance like nobody’s watching!
